Frequently Asked Questions

Is off-grid cheaper than a grid connection?

Frequently, yes. Once a grid extension runs beyond a few hundred metres, the connection quote often exceeds the cost of a properly engineered standalone system with no ongoing supply charge.

Will I still need a generator?

Most off-grid systems include one as backup rather than as a primary source. Correctly sized, it may run only a handful of times a year during extended overcast periods.

Can it run a bore pump or dairy?

Yes, but motor starting current has to be designed for from the outset. This is exactly why we audit loads before specifying an inverter rather than after.

How long do the batteries last?

Modern lithium banks typically deliver ten years or more of daily cycling when sized so they are not routinely discharged to empty, which is a key part of how we specify capacity.
