Solar systems
What a solar system costs in 2026
Most Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast homes land between 6.6 kW and 13 kW. Prices below are fully installed, with the federal STC rebate already taken off.
| System size | Typical installed price | Usually suits |
|---|---|---|
| 3 kW | About $4,140 | Units and very low daytime use |
| 5 kW | About $5,570 | Small homes, 1–2 people |
| 6.6 kW | $6,250–$7,000 | Most 2–4 person homes |
| 10 kW | About $9,480 | Larger homes, pools, air conditioning, an EV |
| 13 kW | $9,700–$15,500 (typical $12,600) | Large or all-electric homes, battery-ready systems |
Prices rise on 1 January 2027. The federal STC rebate steps down each year. On a 10 kW system it is currently worth about $2,500, so installing before the step-down locks in the larger discount. See what the 2027 change costs.
Home batteries
What a home battery costs
Battery prices vary more than solar because capacity, backup and brand change the price. These are typical installed prices before the federal battery discount, then the discount you can expect.
| Battery size | Typical price before discount | Federal discount (May–Dec 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| 5 kWh | $4,850–$8,750 | About $1,250–$1,350 |
| 10–13 kWh | $7,750–$14,550 (typical $10,650) | About $2,500–$3,500 |
| 20 kWh | Quoted to your home | About $4,400–$4,800 |
| 40 kWh | Quoted to your home | About $6,100–$6,600 |
Discounts assume certificates trade at $37–$40. The first 14 kWh gets the full discount, then it tapers. How the battery rebate works.
What moves the price
Why two quotes for the same size differ
Panel and inverter quality
Premium panels can add around $3,600 to a 10 kW system and a premium inverter another $1,500. You pay for longer warranties and better output over 20+ years.
Roof and access
Steep, tiled or two-storey roofs need more safety equipment and labour. Simple single-storey roofs cost less.
Switchboard condition
Older boards may need an upgrade before they can take a new inverter or battery. As licensed electricians, we price this upfront.
Battery size and backup
Whole-home backup, three-phase power and larger batteries cost more. We size to your evening use so you don't pay for capacity that never cycles.
Rebate timing
Both the solar and battery discounts step down on a published schedule, so the same system costs more next year.

FAQ
Pricing questions
How much does a 6.6 kW solar system cost on the Sunshine Coast or in Moreton Bay?
Most 6.6 kW systems land between $6,250 and $7,000 fully installed after the federal rebate, depending on panel and inverter brand and how complex the roof is.
Is the rebate already included in these prices?
Yes for solar: the STC rebate is applied as a point-of-sale discount. Battery prices are shown before the federal battery discount, with the expected discount alongside.
How much is a home battery after the rebate?
A typical 10–13 kWh battery costs $7,750–$14,550 before the discount, and the federal discount takes roughly $2,500–$3,500 off in 2026.
Will prices go up in 2027?
The solar STC rebate steps down on 1 January 2027, and the battery discount falls from 6.8 to 5.7 certificates per kWh in January 2027. The same system will cost more after that date.
